NCRA NashvilleNashville, Tennessee:  Paradigm Court Reporting and Captioning President and Chair-Elect of the National Court Reporters Foundation Jan Ballman attended and presented at the National Court Reporters Association’s Annual Convention and Expo at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee August 7th-9th.  The NCRA is the court reporting industry’s largest gathering of court reporters, captioners, CART providers, videographers, firm owners, freelancers, educators, vendors and students.

An active member of NCRA and Chair-elect, Jan spoke on using your Foundation to help others and build your brand and presented a how-to seminar on hosting a Veterans History Project Day.  Paradigm has hosted VHP Days each year since 2010.  Watch our video here.  NCRF is an official partner of the Library of Congress’s VHP, and has been since 2003.  Since becoming affiliated with the project, NCRF has send thousands of completed transcripts to the Library for preservation.

Highlights of the NCRA Convention included the installation of new officers, the National Realtime Competition, the National Speed Competition, and an attempt to beat the current Guinness World Record Speed of 260 words per minute, set by Mark Kislingbury in 2004.  The Guinness Record was not broken this year, but a new speed champion was crowned – Dana Hayden of Huntsville, AK!
