Paradigm Sports Captioning to Provide Captioning for the Minnesota Wild

Round Emblem Sports CaptioningSt. Paul, MN:  Paradigm Sports Captioning has partnered with Minnesota Wild Hockey in bringing arena captioning to home games at the Xcel Energy Center beginning Monday, January 19th versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.   Captions will be displayed on the bottom of the east and west panels of the Wild’s new HD LED Daktronics scoreboard, which was unveiled in October of 2014 as part of the Xcel Energy Center’s comprehensive technology renovation.

It is estimated that 20 percent of Americans have from some form of hearing loss, from moderate to profound.   Arena captioning leverages voice-to-text technology to deliver all communications made over  the public address system onto the scoreboard in “realtime,” providing Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Wild fans with access to safety information, penalty and scoring announcements, decisions upon referee review, sponsor  advertisements, games and contests, tributes, interviews, scoreboard videos, song lyrics, as well as pre-game, intermission, and post-game entertainment.

“We are not only pleased but totally impressed with how beautifully the captions display on the scoreboard,” said Jan Ballman, President & CEO of Paradigm Sports Captioning.  “It’s absolutely cutting edge.  And the fact that the Wild have chosen to provide this important and valuable accommodation demonstrates that they care about all of their fans.  We are very honored to become part of the game-day team that makes the Minnesota Wild and the Xcel Energy Center venue the #1 fan experience in the NHL.”
