Clinton CARTMinneapolis, MN – Paradigm Vice President of CART/Captioning Lisa Richardson, RPR, CRR, CCP, CBC, was pleased to provide CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) services during former President Bill Clinton’s speech at Northrop Auditorium on the University of Minnesota campus on June 9th.  Mr. Clinton was in Minneapolis accepting the Dean’s Award for Public Leadership.  Ms. Richardson was hired to “hear” Mr. Clinton’s remarks for a Hard-of-Hearing client.

Twenty percent of Americans—one in five–suffer from some degree of hearing loss ranging from moderate to severe.  That statistic translates into an estimated 742,000 Minnesotans.  The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides for equal access to communication for all in public places.  CART and captioning services provide instant voice-to-text translation, allowing Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals to “hear” (by reading live captions) and therefore more fully participate in the event they are attending.   CART and captioning are accommodations provided for by the Americans with Disabilities Act and are available to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals upon request.

Paradigm Reporting & Captioning provides CART and captioning services for speakers, concerts, galas, graduations, conventions, conferences and sporting events.   Clients served include the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Gophers, the University of Minnesota, Macalester College, the University of St. Thomas, the Minnesota Legislature, the Democratic National Convention, William Mitchell College of Law, KARE-11,  PACER, Opus & Olives, Twin Cities Public Television, Regions Hospital, Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing Services-Minnesota, and Communication Services to the Deaf, to name a few.
