Paradigm’s Kicks Off 2014 with In-Service & Holiday Party

IMG_6922Minneapolis, MN:  For the second year in a row, the Downtown Minneapolis Macy’s played host to Paradigm Court Reporting & Captioning’s Annual In-Service and Kick-Off-The-New-Year Party.  This annual gathering is a special day for our independent court reporters and staff members, as it’s the and day each year when most of us will be under the same roof at the same time…and we take advantage of that fact to connect, collaborate and celebrate the previous year’s successes and talk about the year to come.

Our hats are off to Macy’s.  Not only do they provide a fabulous venue for our meeting, they also play a huge role in making the day fun and memorable.   After hearing from Paradigm President Jan Ballman on the state of the firm, the court reporting industry, and being provided with updates of things going on in the legal profession in general, Macy’s stepped in.   Led by Macy’s By Appointment’s Fay Gold, Paradigmers enjoyed a fashion show starring our very own court reporters.  NARS makeup consultants were on hand to counsel all in attendance on impeccability in applying makeup and spoke on makeup tips and trends.   Macy’s Culinary Council, led by Marie Mikel—a former court reporter herself–offered samples of appetizers throughout the day and updated the group on food fads (did you know cupcake flavored popcorn is HOT right now?).    Sunglass Hut also participated and demonstrated the best frames for different face shapes and reminded us how important and chic it is to invest in eye protection…and it doesn’t hurt that it also finishes off the impeccable look.    The Oak Grill provided all in attendance with a fantastic meal, complete with a roaring fire.  Best yet, we had the restaurant all to ourselves!

One of the highlights of the evening every year is the announcement of this year’s award recipients.  The honorees for 2013 were as follows:  Court Reporter of the Year Kelley Zilles – RPR (as voted on by Paradigm’s staff); Most Valuable Paradigmer (MVP) Jayne Seward – RPR (as decided by Paradigm President Jan Ballman); Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Winner Kyle Peterson, Manager of Trial Technologies (as decided by ABCD monthly nominations through the year); and Employee of the Year Kaytee Baerthel – Director of Scheduling (as determined by the court reporters).  Congratulations to all of the award winners!

Paradigm is prepared for and looks forward to 2014!   Bring it!
