Minneapolis, MN: Paradigm Court Reporting & Captioning was proud to provide captioning services for the PACER Center’s 31st Annual Benefit at the Minneapolis Convention Center on May 11th. Bloomington, Minnesota –based PACER, Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights, is an organization that offers opportunities for enhancing the quality of life for children and young adults with disabilities.
Lisa Richardson, one of Minnesota’s top captioners and CART providers, supplied captioning services for the event headliner comedian Jay Leno. During the live auction portion, Leno lent a hand to auctioneer Karen Sorbo. Using a court reporter’s stenography machine, Lisa transmitted realtime, verbatim captions to the benefit attendees. While Lisa, our “Captioning Pro,” admits Mr. Leno was challenging, she also said it was a lot of fun and very rewarding to be a part of such a wonderful and lively event!
Jay Leno was a hot ticket as NBC recently announced that Jimmy Fallon would be taking over as Tonight Show host next February after 20 years in the role. He had the audience of over 2,500 laughing at his stand-up, and endeared by his $10,000 donation to the organization.
It was reported that while in Minneapolis, Jay enjoyed some chicken and ribs from Loring Park’s Market Bar-B-Que, a place he had dubbed as the spot for “The Best Ribs in the World!” Needless to say, it was a successful night for all at the PACER Center Benefit!
Past headliners of PACER’s benefits include Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire fame, Bill Cosby, Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt.
