I was recently on day one of a five-day arbitration. At the end of the first day an attorney asked me if I write realtime. My response was, “Absolutely, I write realtime every time.” The next morning Mr. Attorney came in and said that he had changed his mind on the realtime and didn’t want to mess with all the wires and failed connections. I figuratively slapped my iPad on the table, gave him my 30-second tutorial and we were off. Ten minutes into that session, he leans over to whisper, “This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen!” Now, I later found out that this attorney was hard of hearing and this was a big help for him. Real life in realtime, it’s a beautiful thing.
Ever since the phrase “realtime every time” left my lips that day, it has stuck with me. Writing realtime at every job every time and having the technology available to us that we do makes it so incredibly easy and effortless to provide realtime to those who need it in real life. How cool is it that we can do what we do to make that happen every time and anytime? Very!
We recently found ourselves unexpectedly hosting a French foreign exchange student this summer. Talk about real life throwing at us everything it’s got! Real life is out there happening right now, and every day there’s someone who needs it in realtime. My advice is to write realtime every time, make it a part of your everyday life. As for me, I’m going to keep on keepin’ it real in every way I can. Realtime every time. Real life every day. C’est la vie!
